Hickory, NC - DJ Shaw and the Precision JLM Racing team traveled south to Hickory Motor Speedway for the Pro All Stars Series Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown this past weekend. The team brought one of the fastest cars all weekend and came home with a solid second place finish. Shaw qualified in the fifth position out of the 34 cars entered in the race. After the top ten cars redrew for their starting position, Shaw drew number one, giving him the pole position for the 300 lap event. The race was wild right from the start, as a caution quickly came out when the green flag flew, and Shaw and the other leaders had to navigate around a spun car on the first lap. DJ Shaw was able to hold the lead through multiple caution periods at the beginning of the race until a restart on lap 24 in which Tate Fogleman took over the race lead. Shaw settled in second and started to put pressure back on Fogleman after a few laps, and retook the lead on lap 38. Shaw held the lead again until lap 130 when he brought his 60 Precision JLM Racing machine to pit road to attention of his crew, taking four tires and fuel before coming back out outside of the top ten behind the drivers that had already pitted for tires earlier in the race. At the races halfway point, Shaw found himself in the seventh spot, looking to get by the drivers on older tires. By lap 200, Shaw was up to third behind race leader Garrett Hall and Cole Butcher. After driving up to third, Shaw held serve until a caution on lap 226 and he came back to pit road for two more tires to finish the race with. He was racing with the cars in the back half of the top ten early, and found himself in sixth at lap 250 and made more progress through the last 50 laps. On lap 274, he was battling with Spencer Davis for third and in the races closing laps, contact between the two leaders brings Shaw to finish in the second position in an exciting finish. Shaw was able to bring the #60 Precision JLM Racing machine home with a great effort to close out the 2017 Pro All Stars Series season.
