Oxford, ME – DJ Shaw and the Precision JLM Racing team were back in action this past weekend at the Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine. After winning in their last race at Thunder Road, the #60 team was anxious to get to another one of the flat tracks to see if their improvements on their car would translate over from the higher banks of Thunder Road. They didn’t disappoint, as Shaw finished fifth in a hard fought race.
“We struggled with grip, but everyone else did too and track position was key,” Shaw said after the race, “I think we could’ve been a top three car, but we lost a spot on the final restart and ended up fifth. I’m happy with the improvements and to see one of our cars (Joey Doiron) in Victory Lane.”
Shaw had an uneventful start to the day as he started and finished in the third position in his 15 lap heat race, giving him a 12th
place starting spot in the 150 feature race. On the start, Shaw went on the charge and battled his way into the top ten early. After a caution slowed the field just 11 laps into the race, the field got strung out with a long green flag run that lasted a majority of the race. Shaw was picking cars off one by one, and was into the fourth position before the race’s final restart with just a handful of laps remaining. Shaw had to battle with lapped traffic however, and ended the race in the fifth position. Dale Shaw Racecars driver Joey Doiron won in a spirited battle against Joey Pole.
With the fifth place effort, Shaw now sits third in the points standings, just 17 points behind Glen Luce. The next race for the team will be this weekend, June 18th
at Speedway 95 in Hermon, Maine, just outside of Bangor. Shaw has had success at the track and will look to get another win this weekend on the flat 5/8th
mile oval. Racing will start at 2PM, come join the Pro All Stars Series at Speedway 95 this weekend!
