DJ Shaw and the Precision JLM Racing team were at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway for one of the biggest races of the Pro All Stars Series North season, the PASS 300. 300 laps around the 3/8th mile was a battle of attrition, but Shaw and the team were able to hold strong and finish in a solid eighth place position by the time the dust had settled. Shaw started his heat race in the seventh position and could only advance one spot as he took home sixth place to give him a 16th starting spot for the 300 lap main event. 28 cars started the race, and the action heated up early as there were many cautions at the start of the race to slow the field. Once the drivers settled in, Shaw was marred back in traffic and was having a hard time getting in the right lane and making moves. After a restart on lap 59, Shaw was able to get up to ninth position and by the race’s halfway point he was up to seventh after battling hard with the 7 car of Travis Benjamin. The two drivers swapped a little paint back and forth and by the end of the long green flag run, Shaw found himself in the eighth position. While the field was under yellow, the Precision JLM Racing team sprinted around the 60 machine changing all four tires and fueling it up for the last half of the race. They made quick work of it, as they picked up two spots on pit road and got Shaw out in the sixth position. When the race resumed, Shaw was looking to make up some ground on fresh tires, but found himself on the losing end of a three wide battle between the 09 of Justin Drake and the 73 of Joey Doiron, and he fell back to eighth again. Another caution flew on lap 231 and being one of the last cars remaining on the lead lap, the team decided to pit and make more adjustments. In the closing laps, Shaw was able to hold off Doiron to take eighth place in the final rundown. After three races, Shaw finds himself in the third spot in the points standings, just 26 points behind points leader Glen Luce. The next race for the PASS North Series will be this Saturday, May 6th at Star Speedway for the Support 50 Legs 150. Shaw has had good luck at Star Speedway lately, as he dominated to a win in a Granite State Pro Stock Series race there a year ago. Racing will start at 4:15PM, get to Star Speedway to enjoy some great racing action this weekend! Photos by Lindsay Ellison and Norm Marx
