Seekonk, MA – DJ Shaw and the Precision JLM Racing team concluded their successful 2016 season with a second place effort in the Pro Stock Open DAV Fall Classic at Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, Massachusetts. After fighting through rear end issues throughout practice, the team was able to sort through the issues however to get their car ready for the 150 lap feature event. Shaw led early, and battled hard with Derek Griffith for the win after getting through multiple wrecks in the race’s early stages.
“I almost got there,” Shaw said after the race. “I got there once but my car bottomed out into three, and there was going to be no gentle way by about it. So I just had to settle, we were close and almost out-waited him. Second is pretty good, better than what we deserved and it’s a good way to end the year.”
After finishing second in his heat race, Shaw would start the feature event from the second spot. On the start, Shaw got the jump on the 66 of Mike Parks and shot into the race lead. After caution flags on lap three and lap five, Shaw still held the lead and battled hard with the 73 of Joey Doiron lap after lap. After getting through the race’s early stages, Shaw fell back to the third position while Griffith and the 8 of Angelo Belsito battled for the race lead. Belsito would spin with just 30 laps left, and Shaw inherited the second position and tried to make a run at Griffith in the race’s closing laps. After getting to Griffith’s bumper near the end, Shaw couldn’t get by and settled for second in the DAV Fall Classic.
The DAV Fall Classic concludes what has been a very successful 2016 campaign for the Precision JLM racing team, as they finished as Pro All Stars Series North Champions for the second time and took the Granite State Pro Stocks Owner’s Championship as well. Shaw led many laps throughout the year, and was a force for the win in almost every race they competed in. Thank you to all of the team’s supporters for their support during this entire season. Stay tuned for updates on their 2017 season!
