Oxford, ME – DJ Shaw and the Precision JLM Racing team set out for a double header weekend this past weekend, but Mother Nature had other plans as the team was rained out on Saturday in the Granite State Pro Stocks Series race at Riverhead Raceway, and is rescheduled for August 20th
. However, the team had a strong showing on Sunday night in the “HP Hood 150” Pro All Stars Series event at Oxford Plains Speedway, finishing a solid fourth place after running inside the top five all night.
After winning his heat race driving away, Shaw was confident going into the 150 lap feature event while starting from the 11th
position. After a quick caution to start the 150 lap race, Shaw drove his way into the top ten by lap five, and was inside the top five by lap 50. After a few yellows in the middle of the race, Shaw drove from fifth and fought through some tough lapped traffic before getting by Michael Landry in car 20 for the third spot and setting his sights on the two leaders. With just 12 laps remaining however, the race’s final caution flew, setting up a showdown for the finish. While racing with Landry hard for the third spot, Shaw had to settle for fourth at the checkered flag after the two battled each other through the lapped cars at the finish.
With the fourth place effort, the team increased their lead in the Pro All Stars Series North standings, and set a great effort before the elusive HP Hood Oxford 250 at the end of August. The next race for the team will be back with the Granite State Pro Stocks Series at Claremont Speedway in Claremont, New Hampshire next Friday, August 5th
. Shaw will be looking for a bit of redemption at Claremont after a tough finish in the last race there in June after dominating the feature event. Racing will kick off at 7:00PM with a full card of racing headlined by the Granite State Pro Stocks Series 100 lap feature event.
